World Health Day!

Happy World Health Day!

On April 7th in 1954, the WHO introduced World Health Day for the first time ever. Since then, April 7th has been firmly established as international World Health Day. Every year, it runs under a different motto. In 1954 the first motto ever was “The nurse, pioneer of health”. The Corona pandemic has increased poverty levels, food insecurity as well as social- and health inequalities. The crisis has affected all countries enormously, but the developing countries, which are already the most vulnerable, have been hit the hardest. The pandemic has therefore brought inequality in access to health systems even more into the spotlight. For this reason, this year’s World Health Day motto is “Let’s build a fairer, healthier world for everyone.”

“The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.”
